It is right. It is needed.\u00a0<\/em><\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Consider becoming an ally and join the movement for a national Hidden Disability Symbol in Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Co-founders of the Hidden Disability Symbol (HSDC) movement are: Maeri Perra, Communications Manager, <a href=\"https:\/\/bist.ca\/\">Brain Injury Society of Toronto<\/a>, Michelle McDonald, Executive Director, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.braininjurycanada.ca\/\">Brain Injury Canada<\/a>, and Laura Brydges, Member of the hidden disability community, and Administrator, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/HiddenDisability\">facebook.com\/HiddenDisability<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>This team has prepared a communication kit for individuals or organizations to release before August 24, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>The kit includes:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>Media release for local media outlets.<\/li>\n<li>Letter to the editor for local and regional print outlets.<\/li>\n<li>Social media release.<\/li>\n<li>External email for contacts and networks.<\/li>\n<li>An Op Ed piece, written by Laura Brydges.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<p>Through this kit, the movement aims to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Recruit diverse and intersectoral support of organizations and individuals on an Open Letter (which asks the Government of Canada to adopt and promote a national Hidden Disability Symbol)<\/li>\n<li>Request and cultivate highest-level organizational support (e.g., national, provincial, regional)<\/li>\n<li>Encourage public and organizational participation in the federal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.canada.ca\/en\/employment-social-development\/programs\/accessible-canada\/consultation-disability-inclusion-action-plan.html\"><em>Disability Inclusion Action Plan<\/em><\/a> survey (closes August 31, 2021)<\/li>\n<li>Recommend survey participants give specific mention of the Hidden Disability Community in Canada<\/li>\n<li>Urge survey participants to give specific mention of the need for a national Hidden Disability Symbol<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>To watch a video on the Hidden Disability Movement, click <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/OtfjAAN-8Ig\">here<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>For more information and to sign up as an ally and receive your kit, click <a href=\"https:\/\/hdscanada.wordpress.com\/\">here<\/a>.
