But for others, fear of hat hair may be all it takes to shift bike riders away from safety.<\/div>\n<p>However, a new study confirms what many of us have thought all along. The rate of bicycle-related fatalities are significantly lower in states with helmet laws.<\/p>\n<p>Existing research shows that cyclists who wear helmets have an 88 percent lower risk of brain injury, but researchers at\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.childrenshospital.org\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Boston Children&#8217;s Hospital<\/a>\u00a0found that simply having bicycle helmet laws in place showed a 20 percent decrease in deaths and injuries for children younger than 16 who were in bicycle-motor vehicle collisions.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.scienceworldreport.com\/articles\/7043\/20130523\/cyclists-wear-helmet-brain-will-thank.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Read More&gt;&gt;<\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>For some of us, it&#8217;s just plain common sense.
