{"id":10402,"date":"2023-04-24T17:17:19","date_gmt":"2023-04-25T00:17:19","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.brainstreams.ca\/?p=10402"},"modified":"2025-06-25T23:43:13","modified_gmt":"2025-06-26T06:43:13","slug":"gf-strong-adult-concussion-services-gfacs","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/messageinabottle.ca\/bcbia\/gf-strong-adult-concussion-services-gfacs\/","title":{"rendered":"GF Strong Adult Concussion Services (GFACS)"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brainstreams.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Vancouver-Coastal-Health.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-10403 alignleft\" src=\"http:\/\/www.brainstreams.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/04\/Vancouver-Coastal-Health.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"204\" height=\"75\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3><strong>GF Strong Adult Concussion Services (GFACS)<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>The GF Strong Adult Concussion Services (GFACS) offers 2 streams of service:<\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>GFACS Group Education Session\u00a0 <\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><em>An Occupational Therapist provides group-based education about concussion recovery and self-management skills. <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ol>\n<li><strong>GFACS Rehabilitation Program<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n<ul>\n<li><em>Time-limited concussion treatment emphasizing self-management for clients with prolonged concussion symptoms. <\/em><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to refer:<\/strong> All referrals must be made by a Physician or Nurse Practitioner. This program does not accept self-referrals. Please see the link below for the referral form and more information about the program: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.vch.ca\/Locations-Services\/result?res_id=811\"><strong>http:\/\/www.vch.ca\/Locations-Services\/result?res_id=811<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Referral criteria: <\/strong>must live within VCH, aged 18+ years old, diagnosis of concussion\/mTBI less than 1 year ago. Individuals with <strong>ICBC or Worksafe BC<\/strong> related injuries are<strong> NOT <\/strong>eligible for GFACS.<\/p>\n<p><em><strong>COVID 19 update:<\/strong> Currently all GFACS programs are available through a video-based platforme during the COVID 19 pandemic.
