Canadian Royal Purple Organizes Canada-wide Purple Thursday on October 20th<\/sup><\/strong><\/p>\n

\u00a0\u201cStop the Violence\u201d and \u201cPaint Your Town Purple\u201d<\/strong> have become key slogans for the Canadian Royal Purple. October 20th<\/sup>, the third Thursday in October, will be recognized as Canadian Royal Purple\u2019s first annual Purple Thursday.<\/p>\n

\u201cOur campaign is two-fold this year,\u201d says National President, Sandi Lougheed of Beechy, SK. \u201cWe will engage in a major education and awareness campaign drawing attention to the connections between interpersonal violence and brain injuries in an effort to \u201cStop the Violence\u201d and our Lodges will deliver care bags to well over 60 shelters from Newfoundland to British Columbia.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cOur members have been planning these October 20th<\/sup> events for over six months,\u201d says Lougheed. \u201cSince June, our members have been gathering items for the care bags as well as distributing print material to draw attention to the connection between interpersonal violence and brain injuries.\u201d<\/p>\n

In addition to shelter donations, education sessions, local proclamations and flooding social media, the Canadian Royal Purple\u2019s Purple Thursday project is encouraging everyone to wear Purple on October 20th.<\/p>\n

\u201cSome of our communities are painting doorknobs purple, hanging purple banners and one junior hockey team will be taping their sticks with purple tape,\u201d says Lougheed. \u201cIt is amazing to see the excitement when schools, businesses and organizations join together to support an important cause.\u201d<\/p>\n

The public can get involved by wearing purple on October 20th<\/sup> and adding items and donations to the care bag boxes in their local community.<\/p>\n

\u201c \u2018Stop the Violence\u2019 and \u2018Paint Your Town Purple\u2019,\u201d concludes Lougheed. \u201cTogether we can make a difference.\u201d<\/p>\n
